Education Fit-Out at Bournemouth & Poole College

At Jade Aden Interiors, we saw this project as an opportunity to combine modern design with the specific needs of healthcare training. Our challenge was to turn outdated educational spaces into practical healthcare environments, which would help students smoothly transition from classroom learning to real-world medical practice.

Here are some of our highlights:

• We transformed former classrooms into realistic healthcare simulation areas. Now, they feature hospital beds, electric dummies, and medical tools. These environments allow students to practise in a space similar to a real hospital, helping them build vital skills through hands-on experience.
• We focused on mirroring real-world healthcare environments at every level. In the healthcare wards, we installed disposable fast-track curtains. We built a nurses’ station and a hand wash area with contrasting flooring to match the overhead curtain tracks. These changes help to create a realistic hospital environment.
• We also refurbished the old operable wall, seamlessly integrating it into a new ceiling coffer detail. To support the syllabus, we built a single patient room. It includes funky wallpaper, a kitchenette, and different types of flooring. This design helps us simulate home care scenarios.
• Some classrooms became specialist healthcare spaces. These include areas for nursing training, medical student simulations, and a CGI room for graphics and animation work. Every space was created to accelerate different parts of healthcare education – all while maintaining a professional and clinical atmosphere.
• Understanding the importance of student well-being, we introduced a modern breakout space. This came complete with comfortable seating, acoustic ceiling features, and wood partitioning. These areas offer a calm, friendly space for students to relax or team up between classes.
• We refurbished the bathrooms using durable, high-quality fixtures, including push-button taps and stylish cubicles. These spaces are designed for high daily usage and combine practicality with a fresh, modern aesthetic.
• New IT rooms were added with perimeter benching, power and data points, bright lights, and height-adjustable desks. The result is a learning environment that’s both flexible and accessible, catering to the needs of today’s digital education.

Throughout the fit-out, future-proofing was a key consideration. New ventilation, oversized radiators, and air conditioning systems were added throughout the wing to prepare the facility for easy future upgrades to air-source heat pumps. Anti-tamper covers were also installed to suit the busy educational setting.
