What makes good office design?

As office fit-out and design experts, we share our top tips for creating an office space that’s practical, stylish and inviting.
Keep comfort in mind
A comfortable office will not only improve staff wellbeing and productivity but will also become a place your employees look forward to spending their time in. The good news is that even small changes can contribute to a more comfortable work environment. Some great upgrades we’ve provided in recent office fit-outs include new air conditioning systems, relaxing breakout areas and even small changes such as LED daylight bulbs that mimic natural light.
A lot of modern offices have swapped traditional desks for sit/stand desks that give people the option of changing positions from sitting to standing while they work. Studies have shown that sitting at a desk for too long can have a negative impact on wellbeing and productivity. Giving your staff the opportunity to choose the optimum height for their workspace is a great way to combat the effects of sitting hunched over a desk all day.
Break up large spaces with glass partitions
Open plan offices may be stylish and on-trend, but they aren’t always the most practical design for large, busy teams. Common complaints are that noise travels more and that people miss having dedicated, private spaces to use for meetings or training sessions.
Glass partitions are a simple (and often cost-effective) way to divide up larger spaces, without the need for any major structural work. With partitions, you can create dedicated meeting rooms and control noise levels throughout the office. Also, because glass allows light to continue to flow through the space, you can still retain that airy, open plan feel. Now you can enjoy all the benefits of an open plan office without any of the downsides.
Maximise storage space
Lack of storage space is one of the most common complaints among the businesses we work with. Without adequate storage, files and equipment can quickly start to pile up on desks and in corners of the office, which can create a messy and unpleasant work environment. As part of our office fit-out service, we can create bespoke storage solutions or supply and install new furniture that meets your exact specifications.
Reduce noise levels
Loud, bustling offices may not always be conducive to productivity. Ways to improve acoustics and control noise levels throughout the office include acoustic suspended ceilings and partitions.
